Whether it concerns cancer research, solving grid congestion, or deploying autonomous robotics. Computing power is the new oil for companies looking to innovate. Therefore, TU/e Eindhoven, Tilburg University, the province of Noord-Brabant, and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) are taking the initiative for a high performance computing (HPC) facility. Currently, the initiators are seeking companies with computing/training queries to shape this pilot supercomputing project.
Supercomputing is crucial for complex calculations and analyses that are becoming increasingly important in rapidly growing technologies like AI, machine learning, and Big Data. By facilitating access to powerful computing infrastructure, startups, scale-ups, SMEs, large companies, governments, researchers, and educational institutions in Brabant can significantly enhance their innovation capabilities.
Shared service
Acquiring computing power or realizing it in-house is expensive, complex, and time-consuming. HPC as a shared service offers companies many potential practical benefits, but also provides a platform where knowledge sharing, support, and technical development in a secure environment are guaranteed. The goal of HPC is to have this shared service facility operational in the coming years, to strengthen the Brabant business community.
We are therefore looking for start-ups, scale-ups, established companies, or collaborations with a Brabant link that want to use this computing power for calculations/simulations and especially AI model training. Preferably in the form of a Proof of Concept focused on specific research questions, but we are also open to thinking about the facility's setup for future use. Participation provides companies with valuable insights and feedback. In exchange, we are happy to shape questions together regarding the setup of the HPC facility, such as:
- Legal / IP / Legal matters
- Proposition
- Data governance
- Process
- Knowledge sharing
